Meet Our Team
Anjanette Cabeza, DVM
Born and raised in Panama, Dr. Anjanette Cabeza began working in the veterinary field at the age of 12 as a volunteer at a U.S. military clinic in Corozal, Panama. She later moved to the U.S. to attend Colorado State University to complete her undergraduate studies. She graduated from the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine in 1994 with the Upjohn Award of Proficiency in small animal medicine. Dr. Cabeza has 20 years of experience in small animal medicine and surgery, with her primary interest in internal medicine.
Dr. Cabeza has a set of twins, Ashley and William. She also owns a few pets, a border collie named Misty, a cat named Tiger & Slushy, and fish.
Dr. Cabeza came up with the idea for Miami’s Woodland Lodge Pet Resort because she saw the need for a place where she felt comfortable leaving her own pets when going out of town. Like most pet owners, she wanted her pets to feel safe and well cared when boarding, and she hoped they would be able to actually enjoy themselves while she was away.
The outdoorsy, Colorado-themed resort idea stemmed from her dream to design a place that was truly for dogs. Rather than feeling like pet owners were dropping their pets off to be caged, she wanted them to have a true vacation destination for their pets. It was also her vision to share luxuries such as spacious rooms, a pool, and a yard area to those near the city and the Miami International Airport.
Stephanie – Resort Manager
Stephanie chose this field because of her natural devotion for the well-being of all animals. Her fur baby Bruno, the pomeranian, usually accompanies her wherever she goes! In her eyes, he is her four-legged son. She studied psychology at Florida International University. Her love for psychology has lead her to pursue becoming a certified dog trainer. She is currently working on her certification.
The aspect of her position that she values the most is being able to build personal relationships with clients and their pets.
Lissette Berrios – Groomer
Lissette Berrios has worked with our team for 4 years as our pet stylist, starting at Doral Centre Animal Hospital and moving to the pet resort at its grand opening. Her background working in a medical setting has given Lissette special insight into the many important benefits of grooming and the healthcare of pets.
Our talented groomer is a graduate professional pet stylist. She obtained her certificate in 2012 from Merryfield School of Pet Grooming, and she prides herself on being a perfectionist and extremely patient with her grooming cases. Lissette has an exceptional bedside manner which really comes in handy with pets that are nervous or anxious and do not enjoy the grooming process. The aspect of her position that she appreciates the most is the fact that there is never a boring day at work because every pet is one of a kind. The most fulfilling part of her position is the unconditional love she receives from her pet clients.
Lissette is a huge animal lover who owns two cats named Lyla and Kimchi, and a Yorkie named Sukie.
